Mohali (Punjab): BJP’s OBC women leader from Punjab, Mandeep Kaur Saini (Mona), has made a sharp statement in response to the recent Canadian general election results. Speaking to reporters, she remarked, “With Justin Trudeau gone, the people of Canada have packed off the Khalistanis.”
Slamming pro-Khalistan elements, Kaur said that the Canadian electorate has decisively rejected those who promoted anti-India sentiments under the cover of free speech and political protection. Referring to Jagmeet Singh, she added, “Even Khalistani supporter Jagmeet Singh lost his seat, and his party—the New Democratic Party (NDP)—failed to retain its national party status.”
Kaur described the outcome as a “moral and political defeat for the Khalistani agenda” and a “global endorsement of India’s nationalist stand”. She stated that the common people of Canada now see through the divisive politics of Khalistan supporters, whom she called “neither friends of India nor of Canada.”
She praised the Indian government for its proactive diplomatic and intelligence measures against extremist networks operating abroad. “This is not just a political shift but a civilizational correction,” she asserted.
Context: The 2025 general elections in Canada delivered a shock to the Liberal Party, led by Justin Trudeau, as they failed to gain a majority. More notably, Jagmeet Singh, often seen as a sympathizer of Khalistani ideology, faced a crushing defeat. His party, the NDP, also lost its recognition as a national party—signaling a clear political rejection.
India and Canada have witnessed tense diplomatic ties in recent years, especially after Canada’s soft approach toward separatist elements. Analysts see this electoral result as a reflection of changing attitudes among the Canadian public, increasingly wary of extremism cloaked in activism.
